Amelia's Science News
Amelia brought a lot of ice cubes to school. She lay some string over the ice cubes and sprinkled some salt over the string where it was touching the ice. we watched and noticed that the ice seemed to change shape a little and grab on to the string but we couldn't quite get it to lift up the ice cube with the string before it broke away. It was very cool to watch though. Thank you Amelia.
What will happen to the eggs Deacon?
Deacon brought two eggs to school. He put one egg in cold water and the other egg in a container with white vinegar in it. We left the eggs overnight. The next day the vinegar egg had lost all its shell and felt like rubber. The egg in water looked just the same. It was amazing.
Ashley's Wonderful Patterns
Today Ashley put some milk in a dish and then added 4 drops of red food colouring in each corner of the dish. Then she dipped a cotton bud into some dish wash liquid and put it in the milky mixture. It made the colour go into interesting swirling patterns. We all loved your experiment Ashley.

African Art from South Sudan
Today Mrs Hamman taught us about tribal art from South Sudan. It is painted with lots of tiny little dots and bigger circles around the outside of your shape using really bright colours. Our art looks great so you will have to come in to Room 4 and see them on the wall.
Shrove Tuesday!
Yesterday we made yummy mini pancakes (Pikelets) to celebrate Shrove Tuesday, the day before Lent begins. During Lent we try to go without some treats or things we really like doing to think about others around the world who get no choices about what they might do or play with or do not have enough food to eat, and try to imagine what that might feel like day after day. Thanks Kaley's Mum for being our awesome flapjack cooker! You are the best. They were a yummy treat! Sorry i didn't have any strawberries and cream to go with them Kaley!
