Marae Visit Day Two

Today the Year 5 children from St Marys joined the senior classes for their visit to the marae. We were welcomed with a powhiri and then moved around 3 different activities - making our own poi, flax weaving and using the rakau sticks. It was a very interesting day learning more about Maori- culture and customs.

Ka kite ano - until next time.

Marae Visit

Today the Year 4 children form Room 4 went to the marae at Karitane with Rooms 1, 3 and 5. We had an amazing day learning how special the marae is to the tangata whenua. Thank you to all the amazing parents who were able to come with us.

Rose Makes A Pretty Pattern

Rose put a few drops of different food colouring carefully into some milk. Then she added a few drops of dish wash liquid into the mixture. The colours all mixed in together whenever they touched the dish wash liquid. Thanks Rose for sharing.

Planting Seeds

Jamie brought some seeds along to plant in the cutest little pot. We will watch them grow in the classroom.

Amazing Science News

Annabelle poured water from one cup to another without spilling a drop by pouring it carefully down a rope made of wool.

Pip and Harold Visit St Marys.

It was lovely to have Pip and Harold visit to tell us about how to make healthy eating choices and what to look for on the labels of packaged food especially to see how much sugar, fat or salt was in food. We got a shock as some things we thought would be good for us were full of sugar or fat.

Players Of The Day in Room 4

We had quite a few players of the day awards to celebrate so well done to Nash, Mason, Esme, Thomas and Lennox. We are very proud of your good efforts. Keep it up.

Happy Birthday To The Church

Last Monday we celebrated the birthday of the Church or the feast of Pentecost by singing "Happy birthday to us" and enjoying a slice of yummy cake.

Meet Our Children Who Are Preparing For Confirmation

These children are preparing to be confirmed by Bishop Michael later this month and then receive their First Holy Communion in September. They are starting to get excited about their journey as they learn more about how much Jesus loves them. Apologies to Libby who was away all last week when I took the photo.
