Finn Shows us Her Lovely Art

Finn made this lovely silhouette picture at her art class. We love the way that she blended her colours to make it look like a sunset and also her cool silhouette trees and wolf. Thanks for sharing Finn.

Now you see it, now you don't!

Aria did a magic trick using a glass with a piece of carboard underneath it and a coin. She put the glass over the coin and then covered it with a tea towel. Hey presto the coin had vanished! Well done Aria.

More Cool Science News in Room 4

Thomas had a plastic bag of water and got Luke to poke some skewer sticks through the bag. He promised us it wouldn't burst the bag but some of us didn't believe him but here are the photos.

Sharing our learning across School

Thank you to Arden, Libby, Molly, Jorja and Olivia from Room 7 for showing us and telling us about the models they made of a wharenui. We can't wait till we see the real thing when we visit the marae at Karitane soon. The girls put a lot of effort in to their models.

Science News

We have had some wonderful science news. Nash showed us what happens when he rubbed a balloon against a woollen sock and then held it over some small pieces of paper. The paper stuck to the balloon by static electricity. We rubbed the balloon on our hair as well. The paper still stuck to the balloon!

Say No to bullying!

Last week we dressed in pink to show our support for say no to bullying! There were some very creative get ups but the message was to stand tall and stick up for those who are being bullied!

SCIENCE NEWS

Esme showed us some wonderful science news on Wednesday. She lit a candle and put it on a piece of wet cardboard on top of a chopping board. Then she put a glass over the top of the candle. The candle went out and then from the pressure inside the glass she was able to lift the board off the ground. It looked very spectacular. Thanks Esme for sharing it with us. We didn't expect that!

Praying in our new sacred space

Over the past week we have been praying a decade of the Rosary each day in our new Mary garden. It was lovely to be praying altogether and it was nice to be outside and hear the birds joining in with us too. Thank you to Mrs Elsie Middleton who designed and made this special sacred space for us.

Kiwi Golf With Melanie Harper

On Wednesday afternoon we went over to the Rec to do kiwi golf skills with Mel. Some of us found it quite hard to hit the ball very far but by the time we had had several turns it was getting a bit easier. Thanks Mel for teaching us. It was fun.

Anzac Day Remembrance 2021

On Friday morning straight after morning interval we stood to remember those brave soldiers that went off to war to fight for the freedom of others. Mr. Brosnahan told us a little about about the First World War and we stood in silence as the Ode was read and the Last Post was played. It is important to remember the past and stories of bravery and courage. We are writing diaries about it too.

Autumn Art

We had a lot of fun on Friday morning looking at different shaped colourful leaves for poetry writing and art inspiration. We painted the leaves, mixing different colours together to get the right colour that we wanted, and then made leaf prints from them. We could decide how we wanted to use our leaves but the focus was to make an autumn scene. You will see our lovely art works hanging up very soon.

Feel free to come in and see our lovely art work. The children would be happy to show you what they did.
